Modern Mediterranean in Medina

A blend of traditional and contemporary designs from around the world creates the perfect fit for a multi-generational family.
The kitchen in particular is a masterpiece, comprised of eight full slabs of marble and boasting a 60-inch Wolf range. “We knew we needed something big and dynamic to balance out the massive island. You need a big island for a big family, and you need something equally large to fit the space and balance it all out, so we ended up installing this huge architectural hood wrap.”

Handcrafted details ground a new home with a beautiful sense of place that befits a special site.
The artfully detailed cabinets—some with a subtle floral motif—were crafted by Brian Grabski of Designed and Made in St. Paul. “Everybody was excited to do something that challenged them,” says Tom Rauscher, the home’s architect. “They weren’t just there to build a house. They were there and up for the challenge of doing something new.”

1894 Masonry-style Queen Anne Victorian situated on Summit Avenue.
“Part of our job is to be conscientious about original details and moldings. Anyone can gut a space and start over, but it takes a special kind of contractor with a passion for old homes to be able to work in the space, maintaining the original integrity yet giving the client modern conveniences. I’m proud of our team and the persistence for perfection and getting all the details right,” says Tim Purcell, owner and president of Purcell Quality.
